As the population ages and medical needs become more challenging, more and more
elderly residents will be challenged with quality of life issues. However, because of the County’s Home Based Care Program, individuals aged 60 and over, categorized as
frail, will be able to maintain independent living by being offered services such as homemaking, companionship and personal care, as well as a worker registry.
In addition,
respite services are provided for
caregivers of
older adults as well as
older adults caring for minor children either in the home or at settings such as licensed Adult Day Health Care or Adult
Day Care, or
Alzheimer’s Day Care Resource Center. A
Rapid Response Weekend on Call program is also available to assist caretakers on short notice.
Note: The Department of Public Social Services offers the In-Home Supportive Services Program for individuals qualified for public assistance.
