The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program evolved from federal and state mandates under the
Older Americans Act. The program provides local advocacy services arising out of complaints and concerns of residents in skilled nursing and licensed board and care facilities. Los Angeles County’s program is the largest in the State and one of the largest in the country. This program has seven offices managed by regional coordinators and a 200-plus volunteer cadre, all certified by the State and overseeing over 2,000 facilities.
The Ombudsman Program promotes the quality of life for our
elderly residents in
out-of-home care facilities and serves as a
mediator for residents and families.
