These dedicated individuals -- the majority of which are 60 plus years of age or a service provider -- meet regularly as a whole or in standing committees to engage in public and media discussions of relevant issues impacting the lives of older adults. Members of the Council serve as the “eyes and ears” of local seniors and their
caregivers. Legislation, policies and programs are actively reviewed at all levels of government, with positions taken and communicated as appropriate.. In addition, community education forums and workshops are conducted throughout the County, working in collaboration with the
Commission on Aging to maintain a Speaker’s Bureau. Above all, the Council strives to work together with individuals and organizations involved with the senior population, the ultimate goal of which is to have a positive impact.
