Los Angeles County Commission on Aging

Established in 1949 by the Board of Supervisors, the long standing LACCOA consists of 45 volunteer members whose mission is to preserve and promote the health and general welfare of older persons living in the County. The commission advises the Board of Supervisors, CSS and the various County departments on how best to serve senior citizens, assists local communities and groups in the development of programs for older persons, provides general education designed to create self-sufficiency, as well as to increase the understanding of the problems, needs and contributions of such persons. Performing this work -- either in subcommittees or at the monthly general meeting -- represents a major commitment by the very diverse and multi-cultural individuals appointed by each Supervisor.

At his election on June __ to a second term as President, Commissioner Manny Guerrero said: “My Goal is to strengthen the mission of LACCOA by ensuring that as we become even more proactive in learning about the issues that are most important to the aging population of Los Angeles County and presenting them to the Board of Supervisors."
