Rapid Response, WorkSource California - WIA

Rapid Response

When a company has to lay off workers, both employer and employees face a traumatic upheaval. The economic consequences may be widespread. To lessen the impact, the U.S. Department of Labor and your state and local officials have designed a system to help workers find new jobs or get training for new careers. Locally, this system is known as WorkSource California – Rapid Response!

The Los Angeles area Rapid Response team includes:

  • Layoff and Workforce Development Specialists
  • WorkSource/One-Stop Center Representatives
  • Labor Unions (when applicable)
  • Employment Development Department (EDD)

The LA area Rapid Response fundamentally has four elements:
Notification
When you are facing layoffs, call your regional Rapid Response team at: (213) 738-2198

Rapid Response Team Meeting
Employers schedule an initial on-site meeting with the Rapid Response team to develop an action plan and provide your employees an overview of services.

Project Implementation
Your Rapid Response team locates layoff aversion resources and helps mitigate the impact of a plant closure or downsizing. We help employees access Unemployment Insurance benefits, training, and assist with jump-starting your transition programs.

Technical Assistance and Information Sharing
Our team shares information, procedures, and lessons learned in order to help improve your operation and be responsive to your needs. Go to http://www.worksourcecalifornia.com/business/rapid_main.htm
