The Altadena Senior Center is a community focal point where seniors come together for services, programs and activities that enhance their dignity, promote their independence and encourage their involvement in and with the community. Persons 50 and over are eligible for all Center programs.
DECEMBER SPECIAL EVENTS 2016
Winter Formal: The center will be hosting a Winter Formal for the seniors.
When: Friday, December 16th
Time: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Contemporary art, sewing and needle craft, quilting, exercise, senior support groups, craft , Yoga, Tai Chi, Book Club, strength training and floral arrangement. Call Center for schedule and hours.
Blood pressure, fully equipped fitness center with Jacuzzi; Billiard room including card and board games Special birthday party luncheon on the fourth Friday of every month. Movies are shown every 2nd and 4th Friday at 12:30 p.m. Legal services are provided on the fourth Wednesday of every month.
Ongoing special events held at the Center: Annual Disaster Preparedness Seminar, Annual Spring Festival (April), Annual Health Fair (September), Annual Senior Center Volunteer Luncheon (November), Annual Christmas Party (December).
Nutritious lunch served daily, Monday through Friday 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. A $2.00 donation is welcomed.
Seniors can receive up to two taxi vouchers per month. Vouchers are distributed on the second Friday of each month.
Provides free income tax preparation to seniors and their caregivers. Services are from February through April.
Computer training for seniors. Classes include Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced, by appointment only.
Meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m.
Health screenings, blood pressure and diabetes clinics are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month 9:30 am-11:00 am.
Provides information & referral to programs and services provided by community, social health and relevant government organizations. Make referrals directly to Adult Protective services (APS) at (626) 798-4916. APS is a 24-hour social service program mandated by the State of California to receive all reports about suspected abuse/neglect of an elder (65 years of age or older) or a dependent adult (18–64 years of age and physically or mentally impaired) who are reported to be endangered by physical, sexual, or financial abuse, and caregiver neglect, or self-neglect. We provide intake services to report all abuse. Should you need assistance in reporting abuse, please call our office and the APS intake specialist will assist you in the referral.
