The Antelope Valley Senior Center is designed to provide an array of educational, social, and recreational activities to persons 50 years and older. Working with other County Departments and community based organizations, AVSC provides informative educational forums, recreational fun day trips, exercise, Tai Chi, art, quilting, crochet & knitting classes, arts & crafts, needlepoint, bingo, library services, card games, billiards, puzzles, diabetes class, and singing. Antelope Valley Senior Center also provides food bank distribution to income-qualifying seniors over 60, and telephone reassurance calls to the homebound. Adult protective and mental health services and programs as well as other social services, recreational activities, and evening programs (dance groups, English as a second language & Spanish class, computer and photography clubs) are all part of the center’s activities.
Suddenly there is a whole new world to explore and experience. Just by passing the milestone of being 50 years or older you can improve your mind, enliven your body and lift your spirits. Haven’t you ever wanted to travel, dance, sing, quilt, play games, join a fitness center or create works of art? It’s all here at your fingertips. Meet new friends, discuss current events, eat a meal, attend a presentation or special celebration, or teach a class. The opportunities you’ve waited a lifetime to take advantage of are right here at your local senior center. To learn more about the upcoming programs and events, visit the center and ask for a copy of our current activity schedule.
