EMPLOYMENT AND  TRAINING PROGRAMS
 
Los Angeles County offers numerous programs dedicated toward employment and training at 17 WorkSource Centers.  Funded by the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and under the leadership of the Los Angeles County Workforce Investment Board, these programs serve both businesses   and individuals who could benefit by employment and training resources. In addition, youth services, including a comprehensive Summer Youth Employment Program, are offered by 16 Youth Program Providers.

  • Adult and Dislocated Worker programs are for individuals 18 years of age or older and provide
-Initial evaluation
-Job search
-Placement assistance
-Career counseling
-Assistance to workers displaced by disasters, mass layoffs, or plant closures
 
  • Rapid Response, a federal, state and local partnership providing assistance for both employers and employees transitioning through downsizing or plant closures.
-Services on-site to employees
-Unemployment insurance information
-How to use CalJOBS to find employment
-Labor market information
-Case management services and career counseling
-Skills training
-Resume assistance
 
  • Other business services by WorkSource Centers include:
-Assistance with interviewing potential employees
-Availability of interviewing and meeting rooms
-Customized training resources
 
  • The Youth Program prepares youth for educational opportunities or employment
-Paid work experience for youth ages 14-19 during off-school periods
-Summer Youth Employment program provides subsidized youth employment and supportive services for youth ages 14-19
-Services provided by the 16 Youth provider agencies located throughout Los Angeles County
